To create one, POST https://inspect.hookdeck.com/ (for example: curl -X POST https://inspect.hookdeck.com/). The JSON reply has ingest_url, where to send webhooks, and requests_url: GET it to wait for the next request. It waits up to 25 seconds and returns the request as JSON.
For a Customer.io test URL, send {"type": "CUSTOMERIO"} as the JSON body.
If you can only make GET requests, ask the person to open https://inspect.hookdeck.com/webhooks/customerio in a browser and share the URL it gives them.

What are Customer.io webhooks?
Customer.io is a customer engagement platform for automated email, push, SMS, and in-app messages. Its reporting webhooks tell your app as messages are sent, delivered, opened, clicked, or bounced.
Testing them usually means a workspace sending real campaigns to real people, then waiting for activity. This page skips all of that: a live URL plus real sample payloads for every common event.
How do Customer.io webhooks work?
- Delivered as HTTPS POST requests with a JSON body — object_type and metric name the event: email, delivered...
- Signed with HMAC-SHA256 — X-CIO-Signature covers v0, the X-CIO-Timestamp value, and the raw body, joined by colons.
- Respond 2xx within 4 seconds. Customer.io retries with exponential backoff for 7 days, then the events expire.
- By default only the first open or click per message is sent — change Send Frequency to get each one. Dedupe on event_id.
