To create one, POST https://inspect.hookdeck.com/ (for example: curl -X POST https://inspect.hookdeck.com/). The JSON reply has ingest_url, where to send webhooks, and requests_url: GET it to wait for the next request. It waits up to 25 seconds and returns the request as JSON.
For a Shopify test URL, send {"type": "SHOPIFY"} as the JSON body.
If you can only make GET requests, ask the person to open https://inspect.hookdeck.com/webhooks/shopify in a browser and share the URL it gives them.

What are Shopify webhooks?
Shopify is a commerce platform powering millions of online stores. Apps and integrations extend it — and webhooks are how Shopify tells your app about orders, products, customers, and app lifecycle events the moment they happen.
Testing them usually means a dev store, a tunnel, and a lot of clicking around the admin. This page skips all of that: a live URL plus real sample payloads for every common topic.
How do Shopify webhooks work?
- Delivered as HTTPS POST requests with a JSON body, subscribed per topic — orders/create, products/update, app/uninstalled...
- Signed with HMAC-SHA256 — verify the X-Shopify-Hmac-Sha256 header against the raw request body, never the parsed JSON.
- Respond 2xx within 5 seconds. Shopify retries 19 times over 48 hours — then removes the subscription entirely.
- Public apps must also handle the mandatory compliance topics: customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact.
